The new Linkin Park single from the album Minutes to Midnight came out today and its brilliant.. Ive been looping the same song over and over and over since afternoon.. and its great!!

It was a real big surprise to here the song start of really plain.. with very less samples.. dominant drums and guitars and absolutely beautiful lyrics as ever before.. the song is about change.. how you can change and restart from whatever downs you’ve had or whatever walls you might’ve hit.. starting your life anew from that point on; beautifully positive and clear

In a March 2007 interview with MTV.com, Chester Bennington had this to say about the song: “Joe Hahn came up to Mike and I and asked us to take the whole idea of Minutes to Midnight and apply that to how the band has changed. So, in a way, it’s us saying goodbye to how we used to be…The lyrics in the first verse are ‘In this farewell, there is no blood, there is no alibi,’ and right away, you’ll notice that the band sounds different: The drums are much more raw, the guitars are more raw and the vocals aren’t tripled. It’s just us out there … and that’s how Rick wanted it.”

DJ Joe Hahn of the band directed the video for the single, which was shot in the California desert … … … It features the band performing in the desert, while reflecting on a variety of social issues.

When i first saw the video for What I’ve Done.. it reminded me of In The End, the first video that i ever saw of Linkin Park.. and the you slowly notice that everything has changed!! The changes in the guys, as well as the style in which everything is.. I guess change is in .. :P and for some reason Bono and U2 kept coming back into my mind :P heheh.. go figure.. In short the video shows different social issues that the world faces and some rays of hope in between.. the video goes well with the song and the lyrics.. and ends in a very positive note.. that there is still hope even if starting over is very painful..

The album comes out on may 15.. dont miss the video.. or the song.. till then, keep rocking!! :)

Bond 21

I just came back from a nice down to earth secret agent flick.. The cars were stylish.. the stunts awesome.. the special effects wicked.. and the gadgets almost missing.. the movie was Casino Royale.. yup.. the new 007 movie!! w00t!! it was really good to see the movie series coming back to reality than relying on all the cg fx and uber cool gadgets.. the new blonde bond was also a nice change.. stylish, reckless, arrogant, egoist.. The new, young James Bond is played by Daniel Craig and he does a really good job of it.. the fast paced movie is a good one worth a watch..

And after that, I strolled back devouring my chocolate ice cream cone.. at midnight.. in the stupid november cold!! heheheh.. but it was nice.. nitez to all.. and go watch this movie.. :)

to be consumed by music is something really wonderful that can happen to anyone.. anyone with the right ears that is..

Back to the departed.. soundtrack this time.. Roger Waters, Van Morrison, The Band.. The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, Roy Buchanan, Dropkick Murphy are some of the names on the OST to name a few..

Dropkick Murphy’s Im shipping of to Boston really did the trick for me.. The instrumental by Roy Buchanan titled Sweet Dreams is a sweet dream indeed.. Although The Rolling Stones had three songs listed, i only heard one.. ok i was not a Rolling Stones fan.. untill now i guess.. :) the song was Let it Loose.. Two really neat instrumental tracks by Howard Shore, The Departed Tango and Beacon Hill really added to the magic and drama in the movie..

More about the movie.. watch..

Going to the movies.. we have all done that.. going to the movies alone.. no.. not all of us do that! I have friends who would call me weird if I went for a movie alone.. If at all I had that many friends..

So here I am having a nice conversation over gtalk with a friend and he asks me.. have you seen the departed?? dicaprio talking on the phone – matt damon and jack nicholson all come and go in flashes.. leftovers from the trailer two days go.. then another flash.. Martin Scorsese.. boing!! that struck a note.. from “yeah I would probably see the movie” to “why not now!!?” – all rushed forth :P next thing i know, here I am walking down the stairs all smiles and glee.. i sent my friend on gtalk an sms telling him that im going for the movie.. and the reply was not really a surprise.. he was at the movies himself, except he was in another part of the country..

I get my tickets and ride the elevator up to the fifth floor and walk one tier more only to reach the hall half an hour early!! Never!! never ever when you plan (or just happen ) to go for a movie alone, come early!! The red wall just made me obvious to the coupled people all around :P well sorta.. :P I didnt have anyone even to blab to!! :P well after the wait the movie finally starts!!

It always happens.. I always put on my critics hat when I watch a movie alone.. most of the time the hat just comes and sits on my immensely huge head.. making it impossible for the back seaters to see any of the action.. :P tsk tsk.. what can i say.. i supposedly have an ego to defend :D

and it starts.. :P

no.. im not going to give you blow by blow details.. why? because its a movie worth your money.. its a movie worth watching!! its a movie worth the time!! so go see it!! :) Brilliant movie.. ok.. so its rated R.. if you have a problem with listening to some sort of obscenity or the other every minute or the other then.. well.. stay home..
Wickedly shot and cut.. fast and slick.. no film wasted anywhere.. and brilliant timing for all the scenes.. bloody genius.. funny.. bloody (as in bloody good and also as in blood).. the movie was detailed and is fast enough.. the characters not too heavy but very very nicely pulled off by all the actors till the last shot.. :P I liked Gangs of New York.. and I liked this too.. :) the irish gangs.. the cops.. the rats.. lies.. betrayal.. its all there.. nice and memorable.. in a neat little package.. Fucking bloody brilliant gangster movie.. dont miss it!! :)

maybe we will talk about the movie, actors, plot and all later.. maybe.. :) as for now.. dont miss it. :)
